The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, spoke on 23 November by telephone to the State Councillor / Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi.
Foreign Secretary Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage together with Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Luo Zhaohui, chaired the 11th session of the diplomatic consultations between Sri Lanka and China virtually on 23 November 2020.
14 September 2020, the EU and China signed a bilateral agreement to protect 100 European Geographical Indications (GIs) in China and 100 Chinese GIs in the European Union against usurpation and imitation. This agreement, first concluded in November 2019, should bring reciprocal trade benefits as well as introducing consumers to guaranteed, quality products on both sides. It reflects the commitment of the EU and China to deliver on their commitment taken at previous EU-China Summits and to adhere to international rules as a basis for trade relations.
On 8th September, Chinese Vice Premier Hu Chunhua invited representatives of eight foreign chambers of commerce to a roundtable discussion hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). European Chamber President Jörg Wuttke was invited to speak first, and outlined for Vice Premier Hu how European Chamber members had supported China in bringing the COVID-19 outbreak under control, as well as the recent difficulties in bringing foreign teachers back to China.
